Dugan to miss more than a month of NRL

Cronulla fullback Josh Dugan has a broken foot, putting any involvement he was likely to have in the opening State of Origin game in doubt.

Cronulla fullback and NSW centre Josh Dugan will miss the next four-to-six weeks of NRL football after breaking his foot on the weekend.

Dugan suffered the injury in the Sharks' 10-9 win over Gold Coast on Saturday, and scans on Monday revealed the extent of the damage.

The Australian representative star joins Cronulla's hefty injury list, with captain Paul Gallen and veteran forward Luke Lewis already out injured.

Dugan was forced to limp from the Cbus Super Stadium pitch on Saturday night, late in the contest against the Titans after a seemingly innocuous incident.

After an off-field indiscretion during the State of Origin series in 2017, Dugan helped the Kangaroos win the 2017 World Cup, and has been in strong form for the Sharks in the past few weeks.

Game 1 of this year's Origin series is on June 6 in Melbourne, putting any involvement Dugan was likely to have, in serious doubt.
