Geelong midfielder Mitch Duncan has agreed to a two-year contract extension with the AFL club, tying the 25-year-old to the Cats until at least the end of 2020.

The West-Australian was selected with pick 28 in the 2009 national draft and was a member of the Cats' 2011 premiership side in his second AFL season.

"The Geelong Football Club gifted me the opportunity to play AFL football and I couldn't have asked for a better experience so far," Duncan said in a club statement.

"To play in a premiership and alongside some of the greats of the game over the past seven years has been a dream come true. I'm really excited to have signed on and I'm looking forward to what we can achieve in the future."

Geelong's general manager of football Steve Hocking sees Duncan as a key part of the Cats' plans.

"Mitch is an integral part of our future so we're pleased to have secured him until the end of 2020," Hocking said.

"He's a leader of the club and displays the values we aspire to live by. Mitch has been a great contributor to the club over his seven seasons and we are confident he will continue to do so over the coming years."
