Duncan Storrar who shot to fame after appearing on ABC program Q&A has decided to help others with the funding from the Buy Duncan Storrar a Toaster campaign on GoFundMe.
The campaign raised more than $60,000.
A post on the fundraiser page by the organisers says Mr Storrar has contacted a legal service to set up a trust to disperse the money raised.
So far, $6000 has been donated to the Father Bob Maguire Foundation and another $5000 to a Mens Shed group, the campaign page said.
The legal service involved and the Father Bob Maguire Foundation were not available for comment.
Mr Storrar became famous when he asked about tax concessions on ABC’s Q&A program and when News Corporation papers pursued him over his past afterwards in a series of highly critical stories.
Liberal MP Kelly O’Dwyer’s answer included an example of one business buying a $6000 toaster. Ms O'Dwyer was trying to make a point about tax cuts for small business.
Since then Mr Storrar has been criticised in some elements of the media for not paying tax.
Father Bob Maguire told ABC the donation would help buy an oven to feed homeless.
