In Melbourne's biggest home and away AFL match of the year, Lynden Dunn wants the next generation of Demons to experience what he did.
It was 2006 and Dunn was playing just his sixth game of senior footy.
The Demons, then a finals side, won and won well on the Queen's Birthday against Collingwood.
Just Dunn and Nathan Jones have tasted victory against Magpies on their biggest day of the regular season and the Demons vice-captain thinks it's time to let some other Dees know what it's like.
"It's been a while," Dunn said.
"It's our biggest game of the year, the boys always look forward to it even if we haven't won.
"Now hopefully some of our younger players will enjoy running out in front of a bigger crowd after the occasion and get to sing the song after the game."
Melbourne have had a few dress rehearsals at the MCG this season.
In round one, they produced a sparkling display to defeat the highly fancied Gold Coast.
Their next outing at home brought out a huge home crowd of 58,000 when they took down Richmond.
After three weeks of beltings to the last three grand finalists, the Demons rebounded - again at the MCG - to beat the Western Bulldogs.
The next step in the club's evolution under Paul Roos is to win these ones.
The Demons are 3-6 in the win-loss and believe Collingwood, while in form with six wins this season, represents a great chance to move up the ladder.
"They're in really good form and it's a great test for our group to try and put 120 minutes of AFL footy together and really take it to them," Dunn said.
The Demons have dropped a trio of underperformers from their last-out loss to Port Adelaide.
Ben Newton, Aidan Riley and Max Gawn replace former captain Jack Grimes, Rohan Bail and Jake Spencer.
Collingwood replaces Taylor Adams (toe injury) for Tim Broomhead as they look to solidify their place in the top four.
