Duo due in court over alleged abduction

A man and woman have spent the night in a ACT watch house after being arrested over the alleged abduction of a 18-month-old girl.

A man and woman are due to front court charged over the alleged armed abduction of a toddler from Canberra.

The 22-year-old man and 18-year-old woman were extradited from NSW after being arrested in Batemans Bay on the south coast on Friday.

It came after an 18-month-old girl from Belconnen was allegedly abducted on Thursday.

The child was found safe and well on Friday.

The duo are due to fact ACT Magistrates Court on Saturday charged with unlawfully taking a child.

The man also faces charges of aggravated burglary and assault.
