Durant's NBA season could be over

The season could be over for the NBA's reigning MVP Kevin Durant as the Oklahoma City Thunder star has failed to recover from toe surgery.

Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant could miss the rest of the NBA season due to a recurring foot problem, his team said Friday.

The reigning NBA MVP's rehabilitation has not been going as well as the team had expected, according to general manager Sam Presti.

"He's not making the progress we had hoped," said Presti, who added that Durant could miss the rest of the season if his condition doesn't improve.

Durant hasn't played since February 19 and underwent a procedure a few days later to reduce soreness from a screw that was inserted when he had surgery in October to repair a fracture in the foot.

The initial surgery was performed to repair a broken toe. He returned on December 2 and in 27 games this season has averaged 25.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists.
