Dutch cinematographer Robby Muller dies

Dutch cinematographer Robby Muller who worked with a long list of top directors has died aged 78.

Dutch cinematographer Robby Muller who collaborated with filmmakers including Wim Wenders, Lars von Trier, Alex Cox, Barbet Schroeder and Jim Jarmusch has died after a long battle with vascular dementia, aged 78.

Muller worked on notable 1980s and 1990s films including "Dancer in the Dark", "Repo Man", "Down by Law" and "Paris, Texas".

His last feature film was Michael Winterbottom's 2002 "24 Hour Party People," which vividly captured the Manchester music scene of the 1980s.

Born in Curacao in the Dutch Antilles, he studied at the Netherlands Film Academy.

He is survived by his wife Andrea Muller and a son.
