Eagle Eric Mackenzie nursing sore toe

West Coast coach Adam Simpson says Eric Mackenzie was forced to wear a moon-boot in order to protect a sore big toe, rather than anything more serious.

West Coast defender Eric Mackenzie is set to face Richmond on Friday night despite being forced to wear a moon-boot in the aftermath of last week's win over Fremantle.

Eagles coach Adam Simpson was quick to hose down any serious concerns about Mackenzie, saying the 27-year-old is merely nursing a sore big toe.

"He's all good," Simpson told Perth radio station 6PR.

"It was a pre-determined moon-boot thing before we played - that we'd just try to manage him through the week."

Eagles forward Jamie Cripps (knee) will be assessed later this week after missing training on Monday.

Brownlow medallist Matt Priddis and defender Brad Sheppard were others to skip training on Monday, but the duo aren't thought to be in danger of missing the Richmond match.

"We've got some sore boys, I'll be honest," Simpson said.

"It was a brutal game. This time of year though you get a lot of players who just feel the pinch a bit after three rounds. I'm sure Richmond will be the same."

The Tigers enter the match under intense pressure following their 1-2 start to the year.

Domain Stadium is usually a graveyard for visiting teams.

But it's been a happy hunting ground for the Tigers in recent seasons, with Richmond winning their past three matches there.

Simpson was impressed by his team's effort against the Dockers, but he knows they could be made to pay if they put in a similarly wayward effort in front of goal.

West Coast booted 12.20 against the Dockers, with spearhead Josh Kennedy tallying 1.4.
