Eagle Scott Selwood's AFL season in doubt

West Coast have a raft of injury concerns heading into next week's AFL clash with St Kilda.

West Coast midfielder Scott Selwood is in danger of missing the rest of the AFL season due to a mystery foot injury.

And former Lion Elliot Yeo is also facing a stint on the sidelines after breaking his hand in Saturday's three-point win over Gold Coast in Perth.

Selwood was a late withdrawal against the Suns after struggling to train during the week.

The 24-year-old has carried the foot/ankle injury since round three, and will find out on Monday what path he needs to take to ensure a full recovery.

When asked if Selwood might miss the rest of the year, coach Adam Simpson said: "Don't know - not sure.

"He is in a bit of trouble. I think his foot is worse than what we hoped it would be.

"He'll miss multiple weeks. It's ankle-related.

"There's something there that he's been carrying and probably his brave attitude towards it has probably hurt it a little bit because he's been carrying it since round three.

"We've been managing it. He's been getting better.

"But at training, it wasn't quite right so we explored it a little bit further. We'll find out on Monday."

Simpson said Selwood's injury wouldn't hinder his captaincy chances as the Eagles looked to replace the retired Darren Glass.

Yeo broke his hand in the second quarter of the win over Gold Coast, but played on before being subbed off late in the third quarter.

"It was really brave," Simpson said.

"He played for at least 40 minutes with a broken hand."

Midfielder Luke Shuey (rolled ankle) is expected to return for Sunday's clash with St Kilda at Etihad Stadium.
