Eagle Vardy vows to play through the pain

Eagles ruckman Nathan Vardy says his injured right elbow should be able to heal without a rest.

West Coast ruckman Nathan Vardy says he's still battling pain in his right elbow, but he's been assured he doesn't need any time on the sidelines to let it heal.

Vardy hyper-extended his right elbow in a win over Fremantle in round six, but he's been able to play the last two weeks with his elbow heavily strapped.

The former Cat will again lead the ruck division in Sunday's clash with Essendon at Etihad Stadium, while Drew Petrie is a chance to return after recovering from a broken hand.
