Eagles AFL coach in awe of Docker Nat Fyfe

West Coast coach Adam Simpson might turn to Elliot Yeo in an effort to stop Fremantle skipper Nat Fyfe in Sunday's AFL western derby.

West Coast coach Adam Simpson is in awe of Nat Fyfe, saying the star Fremantle skipper is playing even better than his 2015 Brownlow medal-winning AFL season.

Fyfe looms as a key figure in Sunday's western derby against the Eagles after tallying 43 disposals in last week's 54-point thumping of the Western Bulldogs.

Elliot Yeo has done a good job containing Fyfe in the past and shapes as an obvious opponent this weekend.

But reports have surfaced that Yeo is one of a number of Eagles players in doubt for the game because of injury or soreness.

Fyfe has been best on ground in three games already this season.

After the round-three win over Gold Coast, Suns coach Stuart Dew said Fyfe was simply unstoppable.

Simpson knows he will have his hands full trying to figure out ways to contain Fyfe.

"He's probably slightly in front of that (Brownlow) form, to be honest, the way he's playing," Simpson said.

"The way he's running and getting between contests is something that I've noticed has elevated. He's in really good touch.

"And with (Aaron) Sandilands back in really good form as well, that combination is one of the strongest in the comp."

Simpson kept his cards close to his chest when asked about the Eagles players reportedly in doubt for the game.

Yeo (knee/hamstring), Luke Shuey (toe), Nic Naitanui, Josh Kennedy and Dom Sheed were the players named.

Simpson said Kennedy had trained fully this week.

But he wouldn't give a definitive yes or no when asked what players - if any - might not play.

"You're on a hiding to nothing because if they play, they (reportedly) play sore. And if they don't play, we're all vindicated," Simpson said.

"So I'm just going to let it hang. You guys will work it out when we do selection, and on the day."

Simpson said defender Lewis Jetta would return this week after overcoming his recent soreness.

The Eagles will also unveil their fifth debutant of the year in the form of Jack Petruccelle.

The 19-year-old booted four goals for East Perth last week, and recorded a speedy 2.87 seconds in the 20m sprint at the national combine last year.
