Eagles, Crows brace for emotional clash

Adelaide will play their first game since the tragic death of coach Phil Walsh when they take on West Coast at Domain Stadium on Saturday night.

West Coast coach Adam Simpson says he'll try to keep things as normal as possible as the club prepares for an emotion-charged clash with Adelaide on Saturday night.

Simpson says players and staff at the club are still mourning the loss of Adelaide coach Phil Walsh, who worked as an assistant at West Coast for five years.

Saturday's match at Domain Stadium will be the first time the Crows have played since Walsh's death, and Simpson says West Coast will be treating the occasion with the utmost respect.

"It's a real challenge for everyone," Simpson told Perth radio station 6PR.

"I've talked to our staff about players who have been affected by the tragedy.

"We've got to respect the situation. It will be business as usual in terms of how we prepare and plan.

"But it's going to feel a bit different.

"For Adelaide, it's their first opportunity to represent the club after the tragedy. It's going to be filled with emotion.

"We want to win, but we're also here to respect the whole situation."

Scott Camporeale has been named Adelaide coach for the rest of the season, while former Eagles coach John Worsfold has been appointed as the club's director of coaching.

Camporeale says he will continue to instil Walsh's trademark elite standards and team-first attitude.

The Eagles are flying high in second spot following their 10-3 start to the year, while Adelaide (7-5) are clinging to eighth spot.
