A day after his successful return, the good news continues for West Coast star Nic Naitanui with a new three-year AFL deal.

The ruckman turned 29 last month and the contract effectively means he will retire a one-club player.

Naitanui has played 161 game for the Eagles since his 2009 debut and the 2012 All Australian remains one of the reigning premiers' most important players.

He missed last year's premiership because of the knee reconstruction after the round-17 win over Collingwood.

Naitanui is on track to return to the AFL against Hawthorn at the MCG next week after making a successful playing return on Saturday.

He played more than 60 minutes of West Coast's 72-point WAFL win over East Fremantle, finishing with 10 disposals, 25 hitouts, four tackles, and three marks in a powerful display.

The star ruckman said his main priority had been preparing for his playing comeback and he is pleased the contract talks are done.

"It's certainly a comfort to have the contract completed," he told the club website.

"My management team has been negotiating the contract extension behind the scenes while I have been entirely focused on my return.

"I knew that was going on in the background, but for me it has been more about getting back to play footy. It's really exciting.

"The club has been very good to me throughout my career and I'm looking forward to playing my part in the second half of the season and in the coming years."
