Early Christmas holiday for Steven King

Steven King has been hit with a 10-meeting suspension for his ride on Braidley at Sandown.

Jockey Steven King will take an early Christmas break after receiving a 10-meeting careless riding suspension at Sandown.

King was suspended aboard Braidley in the Vawdrey Semi Trailers Handicap on Saturday after causing Crackerjack to shift out, resulting in Purple Smile, ridden by Dylan Dunn, to be severely checked.

The suspension is King's first in 13 months.

King said he would not appeal and would instead take an extended break because he was going on holidays after the Flemington meeting next Saturday.
