Suncorp expects to pay out between $60 million and $80 million in insurance claims related to this month's east coast storms.

The Brisbane-based insurer says it has received about 8,000 home, motor and commercial claims following the low pressure system that hit Queensland, NSW, Victoria and Tasmania.

Suncorp expects its total natural hazard costs for the financial year ending June 30 to be broadly in line with its annual $670 million allowance.
