Echidna-pper to face Gold Coast court

One of the three men accused of stealing an echidna from a Gold Coast wildlife park is due to face court on Tuesday.

A Gold Coast man accused of stealing an echidna from a wildlife park is set to face court on Tuesday.

Luke Royes, 25, is due in Southport Magistrates Court on charges of animal cruelty and receiving tainted property.

Royes, along with two other men, have been charged after Piggie the echidna was removed from his enclosure at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary on August 1.

Piggie was later found safe and well but all three men have since been charged for their alleged roles in the crime.
