Echo boss enjoys pay rise

Matt Bekier has seen his pay packet swell to $4 million after he assumed the top job at Echo Entertainment

Echo Entertainment boss Matt Bekier has enjoyed a healthy pay boost during his first full year at the helm of the casino operator.

Mr Bekier's total remuneration rose to $4 million for 2014/15, up from $2.7 million the previous year.

His salary rose by more than a third to $1.458 million while his short-term bonus surged to $1.4 million from $780,000, the company's annual report shows.

Echo, which operates The Star casino in Sydney, Jupiters Gold Coast, and the Treasury casino in Brisbane, boosted its full year profit by 60 per cent last financial year thanks to improved returns from domestic and high-rolling gamblers.

Mr Bekier took on Echo's top job in April 2014, and was previously the company's chief financial officer.
