Disgraced former NSW Labor powerbroker Eddie Obeid is to come under the scrutiny of the state's corruption watchdog again.

The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) will hold a public inquiry into a series of allegations against Mr Obeid, who was the subject of corruption findings by the commission in July.

The latest inquiry will look at allegations that between 2000 and 2011 Mr Obeid misused his position to influence public officials in relation to retail leases at Circular Quay in which he or his family had an interest.

It's also alleged that during that time certain public officials "improperly exercised their official functions" to benefit the Obeids.

The inquiry will also examine allegations that Mr Obeid misused his position in relation to Direct Health Solutions and in relation to the granting of water licences at Cherrydale Park.

The public inquiry, set down for three weeks, will be begin in Sydney on October 28.

In a report handed down on July 31, ICAC Commissioner David Ipp found Mr Obeid had acted corruptly in relation to the Mount Penny coal mine and recommended criminal charges be considered by the DPP.

Operation Jasper had investigated reports that then mines minister Ian Macdonald rigged a 2008 tender process to grant a coal licence over the land at Mount Penny which was owned by the Obeid family.

It enabled the Obeids to make $30 million.

The three new corruption inquiries will be overseen by Assistant Commissioner Anthony Whealy given Mr Ipp's role in the previous investigation.

"The commission considers it appropriate to appoint an assistant commissioner to hear these allegations, as they refer to Mr Obeid," the ICAC said.
