Ex-Labor minister Eddie Obeid is due before a Sydney court on Friday, weeks after seeking to have his trial delayed.

The fallen NSW powerbroker pleaded not guilty to misconduct charges at a NSW Supreme Court appearance in May.

Obeid is accused of making inducements to former Maritime NSW boss Steve Dunn in relation to lucrative family-owned cafe leases at Circular Quay.

His trial is due to start in October.
