Edinburgh sign Australian to add pace

Australian wing Alex Northam has been signed up with Edinburgh to add pace to the side.

Edinburgh head coach Alan Solomons has signed pacey Australian wing Alex Northam.

The 23-year-old can run 100 metres in 10.69 seconds and joins Edinburgh from Sydney-based North Harbour Rays, although he has recently been on loan with French Top 14 club La Rochelle.

Northam, a former Australia Under-20 international, said: "I'm looking forward to joining the club and especially keen to work with Alan. We've talked about developing my game and he feels he can really help me.

"The boys here have told me the club's moving in the right direction and they've got a good team atmosphere.

"What am I looking to add to the mix? I'm hoping to bring my speed and pace to the game, to execute and finish on some of the backline plays."
