Parramatta club captain Tim Mannah has slammed the people attempting to sell alleged sex tapes involving NRL teammate Corey Norman.

Eels players rallied around Norman at training on Tuesday after the five-eighth became embroiled in another scandal when two videos were offered for sale to media.

"It's a shame when people see the benefit of attacking and using people's private lives for the benefit of themselves and to share it with the greater public," Mannah said.

"If there's nothing illegal, everything's consensual and nothing wrong has happened, I don't think there's a real reason to make someone such a big target and drag their name through the mud."

The Eels are investigating the matter, with one of the clips allegedly showing an older person snorting a white substance in the same room as Norman.

A second video is believed to show Norman in the room with former Penrith player James Segeyaro and a naked woman.

There is no suggestion of illegal activity from either Norman or Segeyaro.

"It's not a smart thing to do to put yourself in such an compromising position, but he's not the one out there trying to sell it and make money," Mannah said.

"There's obviously someone else doing that. I think that's a disappointing part."

Eels utility Clinton Gutherson said players have been taught to be wary.

"You never know where a camera's going to be or where a phone's going to be. They're as small as anything these days," he said.

"You've just got to be careful, get a good bunch of friends and just watch your back at all times. It's just unfortunate that Corey's been stuck in this situation.

"We have a lot of (social media) educational programs here. Sometimes you just slip up. That's life. Sometimes you make mistakes and you've just got to move on from it."

The scandal comes as Norman is due to face court on Wednesday on drug possession charges after allegedly being caught with a number of capsules at Star Casino in May.
