Parramatta have suspended promising talent Jaeman Salmon for their NRL season opener and fined him $10,000 after he was convicted of drink driving.

The Eels said they reached their decision after consultation with the NRL's integrity.

The 20-year-old Salmon was charged with low range drink driving in October last year after the car he was driving crossed to the wrong side of the road, hit three parked cars and flipped onto its roof.

"Jaeman has demonstrated genuine remorse and has supported this by completing a safe driving course and is currently undertaking welfare and education programs stipulated by the club," Parramatta said in a statement.

Cronulla junior Salmon signed a three-year deal with the Eels in late 2017 and made his NRL debut last season in round 21 and played a total of five games.
