Eels sign experienced hooker De Gois

Parramatta will announce the signing of experienced Cronulla hooker Isaac De Gois on Sunday after the rake was granted an early release by the Sharks.

Parramatta have solved their hooking crisis by signing experienced Cronulla rake Isaac De Gois on a two-year deal after he was granted an early release by the Sharks.

De Gois played his final game for the club in Saturday's 30-0 loss to St George Illawarra in Wollongong and will be officially announced as an Eels player on Sunday.

The 29-year-old, who has enjoyed two spells at the Sharks either side of a three-year stint with Newcastle, will fill the gap left by Nathan Peats' season-ending injury at the Eels.

Brad Arthur's side scraped past a fast-finishing North Queensland on Friday with Luke Kelly in the No.9 shirt but are desperately short of experience in the position after Peats ruptured his anterior cruciate ligaments against Penrith last Friday.

De Gois informed his Sharks teammates of his departure after the game at WIN Stadium and Wade Graham said it was a big disappointment given the side's mammoth injury list, but there were no hard feelings towards him.

"I think he was trying to keep it quiet and keep the boys focused on the game, but it broke in the media," Graham said.

"I don't think he had even told his parents yet as he wanted to keep it to himself, but he got us in a group and we had a little chat after the game.

"None of us begrudge him. He's got to do what he has to do, you have to look after your family and as friends we wish him all the best."
