Parramatta are hoping to play one of their NRL glamour fixtures in Darwin next year after the club announced details of a four-year agreement with the Northern Territory government on Thursday.
The club signed a deal that will see them play a trial match in Alice Springs each year in addition to an NRL home fixture in Darwin.
It will also take in a number of programs within local communities to help promote healthy lifestyles and help combat anti-social behaviour.
"It's not just about playing a game, making a few dollars and getting out, we're going up there for a seven or eight day stint," Eels chairman Steve Sharp said.
"We'd love to get a team like Melbourne up there. The likes of Billy Slater, Cooper Cronk and Cameron Smith are great for our game."
Parramatta took a game to Mudgee this season and spent the week in the NSW town, but will now concentrate the attention on making Darwin a Parramatta stronghold over the next four years.
"This is a great day for the sport of rugby league and the Territory," Northern Territory Minister for Sport Matt Conlan said.
"Today's announcement is the first time the Northern Territory has partnered with an NRL club to deliver a long-term future of premiership NRL games in the NT.
"While these games are important to the Territory, this agreement goes much further than just NRL games and will also deliver significant benefits to our community over the next four seasons, all year long."
