Eels sign promising youngsters

Parramatta have confirmed the signing of Clinton Gutherson from Manly, while also picking up under-20s Wests Tigers prop Matthew Woods.

Parramatta have confirmed the signing of promising outside back Clinton Gutherson for the next two seasons.

Gutherson, who was released by the Sea Eagles in September, represented the Junior Kangaroos in 2014 and has scored five tries in six NRL matches.

The 21-year-old started in Round 1 for Manly against the Eels, but sustained a knee injury which ruled him out for the season.

"Clint is a talented young player who will add a great deal of skill to our back line this season," said Eels coach Brad Arthur who worked with Gutherson at Manly.

"He's unfortunately had the last few years interrupted by injuries, but he's ready to return and make an impact."

The Eels have already lost Reece Robinson to rugby union from their 2016 back line, and Will Hopoate is also likely to move on.

Parramatta also announced the signing of Wests Tigers and New South Wales under-20s prop Matthew Woods.
