The new version of Apple's desktop computer software has a name; El Capitan, as well as several new features aimed at improving the user experience.
A much smaller update that last year's major redesign, El Capitan has a new cursor finder that makes it jump out of the screen when you first touch the trackpad, so you can find the pointer more quickly.
The two key words used in the launch were "experience" and "performance".
New gestures in Mail mean you can swipe to keep an email unread, as well pin websites to the tab just by dragging them to the left of the screen.
Apple's search feature, Spotlight, has also been improved, and can now handle more natural language, for example being able to understand the search "documents I worked on in June".
The Split View will be a key tool for those Mac users looking for more productivity; as it enables users to better manage the different windows they have open, organising them in a tidy tile system.
Split View also means the screen can be cut in two, with an app in each half for multi-tasking.
On the performance side, Apple announced that software tweaks mean apps will open twice as fast, and PDF files will open four times as fast in the new version of OS X.
El Capitan will be available to users as a free upgrade in the autumn, though a preview will be on offer sooner.
