Elderly woman dies in NSW crash

An elderly woman could not be revived after her car crashed head-on with another vehicle at Coolangatta on the NSW south coast.

A 94-year-old woman has died after a head-on crash on the NSW south coast.

A man in the other car was trapped in the wreckage after the smash at Coolangatta, on the Shoalhaven River on Thursday afternoon.

Paramedics couldn't revive the elderly woman, while the 41-year-old man was eventually pulled from the crumpled car and airlifted to St George Hospital with neck, chest and leg injuries.

He remains in hospital in a stable condition.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
