A South Australian camper who spent two nights missing in remote desert in the Northern Territory has been reunited with her husband.

Cheryl Redway, 64, was found alive days after she disappeared after she and her husband Alan Redway had an argument about how to get back to camp, then went their separate ways, while walking near Salt Creek.

While Mr Redway found his way to the campsite on Thursday, his wife failed to return and was missing until search crews found her on Saturday afternoon.

A search helicopter spotted the tired and dehydrated camper about 10 kilometres from where she disappeared.

"I am the happiest man," Mr Redway told the Nine Network.

"I didn't lose hope because I knew she's a stronger person than the average."

The pair embraced in an emotional reunion.

Ms Redway was found dehydrated but uninjured and went to Yulara Clinic for assessment.

More than 200 square kilometres was covered in an effort to find the Millicent woman.

"This is the best outcome we could have hoped for," Superintendent Don Fry said.

"Thank you to everyone involved in the search."
