England post 227 in ODI against Sri Lanka

England have been bowled out for 227 by India in their third one-day international at Trent Bridge with Alastair Cook top scoring with 44.

England were bowled out for 227 by India in the third one-day international at Trent Bridge on Saturday.

Spin again proved England's undoing, with India's slow bowlers taking five wickets between them and off-break bowler Ravichandran Ashwin returning figures of 3-39 in his 10 overs.

England captain Alastair Cook top-scored with 44 in an innings where only fellow opener Alex Hales (42) and Jos Buttler (42) passed 40.

It wasn't until the last over that England scored their lone six when tailender James Tredwell, who made 30 off just 18 balls, lofted Bhuvneshwar Kumar over long-on.

World champions India lead the five-match series 1-0 after their 133-run win in Cardiff on Wednesday, which followed Monday's washout in Bristol.
