After career-worst figures at the MCG, Jonny Bairstow has warned Adam Zampa to expect more of the same in Friday's second one-day international at the Gabba.
The leg-spinner finished with 0-72 from his 10 overs in the series-opening loss as Jason Roy's 180 powered England past Australia's 304 with seven balls to spare.
Zampa had Roy trapped lbw for 91 only for it to be overturned on review, while he narrowly missed another wicket when a six evaded the boundary rider's clutches.
Frontline quick Mitchell Starc (2-71) was also taken to, with debutante Andrew Tye (0-42) the only bowler to go for less than 5.5 an over.
Josh Hazlewood (virus) and Pat Cummins (rested) will miss Friday's game, with Zampa and Starc to lead a raw attack likely to feature debutante Jhye Richardson and second-gamer Andrew Tye.
Bairstow said there had been no deliberate plan to attack Zampa in Melbourne, but that he should expect similar intent if batsmen are set when he is introduced.
"If the ball's not turning you've got options and ways of playing it," Bairstow said.
"On a different day there could be one or two that go to hand and all of a sudden you've got different figures.
"But the guys played with some real good intent against Zampa and I think that will continue all the way through the series."
Since the start of last year, Zampa has leaked more than six runs an over at an average of 48.2 as fellow tweakers Agar, Mitchell Swepson and Nathan Lyon all wait for their chance ahead of next year's World Cup.
Selectors could also opt to go without a frontline spinner and leave the slow-bowling duties to an all-rounder, like they have done with Travis Head and Glenn Maxwell before him.
"That's out of our control, selection is selection and you could say that of any team in the world, you don't know what going in within opposition camps, selection meetings, everything like that," Bairstow said when asked if Lyon was stiff to be left out of the 50-over side.
"We've got our own dilemmas to worry about and each team will have those dilemmas."
