England v Australia at Cardiff at a glance

All you need to know ahead of Australia's second one-day international against England at Cardiff's Sophia Gardens.

A CLOSER LOOK AT ENGLAND V AUSTRALIA IN THE SECOND ODI IN CARDIFF ON SATURDAY

* Head to head: Australia 81 England 57, ties 2, no-results 3.

* Sophia Gardens hasn't been a happy hunting ground for Australia who have lost four of their five ODIs played at the venue including an infamous defeat by Bangladesh in 2005.

* Two Ashes Tests played at the ground have also been forgettable for Australia. England prevailed by 169 runs in 2015 having held out for a dramatic draw in 2009 on the way to regaining the urn.

* Australia's only victory in the Welsh capital came in 2001 against Pakistan when Ricky Ponting's 70 from 68 balls laid the foundations for a seven-wicket win.

* Should D'Arcy Short be named in the side, he will become the first player from Katherine in the Northern Territory to play a 50-over international for Australia.

* England have won eight of the last 10 matches against Australia - their most successful winning sequence since an eight-match winning streak between 1979 and 1980.

* England spinner Adil Rashid is aiming to dismiss Marcus Stoinis for the fifth time in six innings.

* Tim Paine became the 25th man to captain Australia's one-day side at The Oval on Wednesday.
