England batsman Ian Bell has sustained a "small fracture" in his big left toe, the England and Wales Cricket Board says.

Bell was hit on his toe batting against throw-downs before the fourth one-day international against India at his Edgbaston home ground on Tuesday.

The Warwickshire shot-maker was replaced at No 3 by Gary Ballance, and subsequent X-rays confirmed the break.

Bell's injury will be assessed before the fifth and final match of the series at Headingley on Friday.
