Former England all-rounder Graham Stevenson has died at the age of 58, Yorkshire Country Cricket Club has announced.
A hard-hitting batsman and fine seam bowler, there were many observers who thought Stevenson as naturally talented as his England contemporary Ian Botham.
But whereas Botham became one of the leading all-rounders of his generation during a lengthy England career, Stevenson, nicknamed Moonbeam, played just two Tests and four one-day internationals in the early 1980s.
He did, however, enjoy a remarkable ODI debut against Australia at Sydney in 1980, taking four wickets for 33 runs and then scoring 28 of 18 balls to see England to a narrow two-wicket victory.
At county level, he played in 177 first-class matches for his native Yorkshire between 1973-1986, taking 464 wickets at 28.56, scoring 3,856 runs with two centuries and holding on to 73 catches.
Perhaps his most memorable performance for Yorkshire came in partnership with Geoffrey Boycott when he made 115 not out batting at No 11 during a last-wicket stand of 149 with the England opener against Warwickshire at Edgbaston in 1982.
At the time it was the highest unbeaten first-class score ever recorded by a No 11 batsman.
A statement on Yorkshire's website said Stevenson had endured ill-health in recent years and that he died in hospital after suffering a severe stroke over three months ago.
