Veteran defender Corey Enright will get the chance to become Geelong's games record holder after agreeing to play on in 2016.
The publicity-shy Enright, who turns 34 later this month, is understood to have told club officials on Thursday he intends to push on for a 16th AFL season.
The triple premiership star played his 309th game in Saturday's 39-point win over Adelaide and sits second on the Cats' all-time list behind Ian Nankervis (325).
Geelong coach Chris Scott said on Saturday Enright would make a call on his playing future in a similar no-fuss manner to his great mate and fellow triple premiership star Matthew Scarlett, who retired without any fanfare in 2012.
"He was playing well at the end (of the season)," said Scott.
"The three guys that are finishing played well, too.
"But if I could forecast anything with Corey Enright, I reckon it'll be a little bit like Matty Scarlett - it'll be done before you know it with Corey."
It was confirmed on Saturday that star midfielder Steven Motlop had signed a new two-year deal, although the Cats had not wanted to publicise it this week, fearing it would detract from the farewell games of multiple premiership-winning stars Steve Johnson, James Kelly and Mathew Stokes.
Motlop - who had been linked with a move to Richmond - will be eligible for limited free agency when his new deal expires in 2017.
"We'll roll that out next week," Geelong football manager Steve Hocking told ABC radio.
"It's been a lot of work between (Motlop's) manager and myself, but we got there in the end.
"It was really just about making sure that he realised his value - but, at the same time, we maintained a pay structure, as we have done."
Motlop has played 88 AFL matches since making his senior debut in 2010, having been selected with pick 39 in the 2008 national draft.
He was suspended by the Cats for one week early this year after drinking alcohol at a local match on the eve of the round-one clash with Hawthorn.
But Motlop bounced back from that setback to be one of the Cats' best players throughout 2015.
