A group of more than 100 Australian entrepreneurs is finally on the way to Antarctica for the delayed start of a major think tank designed to drive innovation.

The group had planned to land in Antarctica on Australia Day but bad weather made it too dangerous for them to fly from the southern Chilean town of Punta Arenas to King George Island, just off the Antarctic peninsula.

Organisers from the think tank The Unstoppables on Tuesday said heavy fog and rain on the island had cleared, allowing the group to safely fly from Chile.

The think tank hopes the eight-day trip to Antarctica will inspire entrepreneurs and drive $1 billion worth of business deals.
