Australian world No.26 Daria Gavrilova will have to wait a little longer in her quest to claim a maiden WTA Tour title.
The third-seeded Gavrilova was sent packing in the quarter-finals of the Morocco Open by Italian veteran Sara Errani 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 in just shy of two hours.
Gavrilova's serve let her down frequently throughout the match as she racked up eight double faults, four in each set.
Gavrilova also won just 50 per cent of the points on her first serve throughout the contest, allowing the diminutive Errani to take out the match.
Errani, the 2012 French Open finalist and former world No.5 awaits top-seeded Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the semi-finals.
Pavlyuchenkova was forced to do it the hard way against American Lauren Davis, before eventually winning their quarter-final 6-4 3-6 6-3.
The tough win has the Russian feeling confident as she chases her first clay-court title since the 2013 Estoril Open.
"I felt like today I didn't play my good tennis," Pavlyuchenkova said.
"I was just struggling to find my game. She (Davis) was playing a mix of aggressive and then with spin and stuff, so it didn't give me a rhythm.
"I just kept fighting until the last point and stayed in it all the way to the end. It worked out and I'm happy that I could turn it around."
In the bottom half of the draw world No.73 Varvara Lepchenko swept past fellow American Catherine Bellis 6-3 6-2 to book her place in the semis, where she will play Italian veteran Francesca Schiavone.
The 36-year-old Italian, who won the French Open in 2010, advanced past world No.104-ranked German Tatjana Maria 6-1 4-6 6-3.
