EU opens "reverse flow" gas pipeline to Ukraine

This week sees the opening of a pipeline which will allow the European Union to deliver natural gas to Ukraine.

This week sees the opening of a pipeline which will allow the European Union to deliver natural gas to Ukraine.

The so-called "reverse-flow" line is designed to meet Ukraine's energy needs if Russia continues to block gas supplies to it during the coming winter.

The pipeline runs through Slovakia which has a border with Ukraine.

Michael Kenny asked central Europe correspondent Kerry Skyring if the pipeline can actually deliver Ukraine's needs if Russia refuses to supply Kiev with gas?
