Vienna has launched a series of initiatives to celebrate Eurovision's anniversary edition - including one to promote gender diversity.

As host of Eurovision, the Austrian capital, Vienna, has launched a series of initiatives, including one to promote gender diversity.

It includes displaying gay couples with hearts on several pedestrian traffic light signals.

Dr Jessica Carniel is a lecturer in Australian Studies at the University of Southern Queensland.

She told Santilla Chingaipe, with this Vienna is making an important statement.
