Everton EPL striker Traore out with injury

A hamstring injury has ruled Everton's on-loan striker Lacina Traore out of English Premier League action for several weeks.

Everton's on-loan striker Lacina Traore is set to be sidelined for several weeks with a hamstring injury, manager Roberto Martinez said on Tuesday.

The Ivory Coast international suffered the injury during the warm-up for Saturday's English Premier League defeat at Chelsea and was immediately withdrawn from the starting line-up.

"Obviously, with this sort of injury, it is normally weeks rather than months," Martinez said.

"The type of player Lacina is, a sprinter, means these sort of injuries need to be well recovered."

The giant striker arrived on January 24 from Monaco - having not played since November because of the winter break in the Russian season while at previous side Anzhi Makhachkala - with an existing hamstring injury to his other leg.

That meant he didn't make his Everton debut until February 15, when he scored against Swansea in the FA Cup - his only appearance for the Toffees.

Traore could miss the majority of Everton's matches in March, so the Merseysiders will be grateful for the return to fitness of their other on-loan striker Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgian forward injured an ankle in the derby defeat by Liverpool at Anfield a month ago but would have been fit to play last weekend had the match not been against parent club Chelsea.
