"It's going to be massive, but every game left is like a final now," Fer told the club's website.
"We still have six games to go and we must go into each one looking to win. Watford is next up on Saturday. It's going to be a hard game again, but we have to stay positive and go there to win. "
The only positive for Swansea from last weekend's round of fixtures was that teams around them failed to take advantage of their slip-up. Bottom club Sunderland lost, as did Hull City, who are two points and one place above them.
Middlesbrough, four points behind but with a game in hand, drew at home to Burnley.
Fer said Swansea had to concentrate on their own matches even though they will need some help from other sides.
"We must only focus on ourselves and not look at other teams to do anything for us," the 27-year-old Dutchman said.
Swansea, who have only three away wins in 16 matches this season, travel to 10th-placed Watford on Saturday.
