Everyday Aussies urged to volunteer in G20

Up to 700 everyday Aussies with "friendly faces" will be recruited as volunteers for the G20 world leaders summit in Brisbane.

It's the most significant meeting of world leaders Australia has ever hosted, and everyday Aussies are being asked to play a pivotal role.

Up to 700 volunteers with "friendly faces" are needed for the G20 leaders summit in Brisbane this November.

"We want this to be the friendly G20, we don't want this to be just a dignitaries occasion," Prime Minister Tony Abbott said when putting out the volunteer call in Brisbane on Sunday.

Enthusiastic people of all ages are being asked to apply on the G20 website.

They will play a major role in the world leaders event expected to involve 4000 delegates and 3000 media workers, Queensland Premier Campbell Newman said.
