Former Greater Western Sydney Giants No.3 draft pick Dom Tyson says it's no coincidence his most enjoyable season in the AFL is his first in Melbourne.
The first-year Demon says the go-home factor could be tempting for several youngsters on the Giants' list.
Melbourne-raised Tyson played 13 games in two injury-interrupted seasons with GWS before he was traded to the Demons in late 2013, allowing the Giants to gain No.2 pick Josh Kelly and No.20 Jack Leslie.
Tyson has rewarded the faith of new Melbourne coach Paul Roos by averaging 23 disposals in 17 matches in 2014, including a fabulous performance in the Demons' three-point loss to Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval on Sunday.
The 21-year-old Victorian had a game-high 32 disposals, kicked two goals and laid seven tackles.
"It has been good to be able to come back home to Melbourne and settle in and play consistent footy," Tyson told reporters on Monday.
It has been a tough year for the Demons, winning four of 17 games. However, it's an improvement on their 2-20 record in 2013.
"I haven't regretted the move one bit," Tyson said.
"From the minute I was traded, I was happy to be back home and to get settled in back in Melbourne.
"My footy has probably reflected that as well.
"I think both clubs are pretty happy.
"I wasn't actually trying to get home last year. It was just the way the club approached me. I was really impressed and felt it was a good time once I realised there was a possibility to be able to get home.
"There's a lot of Melbourne-born boys up there who might be playing a bit more two's (reserve-grade) footy than they like.
"There's a lot of high draft picks up there who haven't quite come on, just by the fact there's so many youngsters up there.
"I'm sure many of them would if given the opportunity to get home and wanted to get home and found a good place, they'd play good footy."
Melbourne host Brisbane at Etihad Stadium on August 3.
