Ex-Qld education boss faces sizeable case

The crime watchdog is expected to produce a 'sizeable' brief of evidence against a former Education Queensland boss accused of nepotism.

Queensland's corruption watchdog is expected to produce a "sizeable" brief of evidence against a former Education Queensland boss accused of nepotism, a court has heard.

Former Education Queensland director-general Julie Grantham is accused of abusing her position over the hiring of departmental staff.

Grantham and the department's southeast region boss Glenn Hoppner were charged in October following a 2012 Crime and Corruption Commission investigation into allegations of nepotism at a government-owned sports centre on the Gold Coast.

Her lawyer Glen Cranny told the Brisbane Magistrates Court during a brief mention that he would need more than two weeks to consider the CCC's evidence.

He told the court that this "might be sizeable" after the Crown prosecutor said it had the potential to be "large".

The case was adjourned for another mention on February 9.

Grantham, who has been charged with misconduct in relation to public office, did not appear in court on Monday and is yet to enter a plea. She is on bail.
