Extension of ACT, NT digital radio trials

The Australian Communications and Media Authority is extending the digital radio trials in Canberra and Darwin until June 30, 2016.

The media watchdog has decided to continue digital radio trials in Canberra and Darwin until the middle of next year.

Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull in July released a report by his department recommending the services in both cities become permanent, like they are in other states.

"In view of the government's announcements in this space, the ACMA will continue to facilitate the extension of the Canberra and Darwin trials in the interim (until 30 June 2016)," the authority said in a statement on Tuesday.
