Police are out in force in Cairns as world economic leaders gather for the G20 Finance Ministers' Meeting this weekend.
The increased presence comes after Australia's terror alert level was this week raised to high, and in the wake of the raids in Sydney and Brisbane yesterday.
The meeting is a dress rehearsal for the main event in November, when global leaders will meet in Brisbane.
Treasurer Joe Hockey was this weekend playing host to high-profile financial figures including International Monetary Fund Managing Director, Christine Lagarde, and US Federal Reserve Chair, Janet Yellen.
Russia's Deputy Finance Minister Sergey Storchak will also be there, despite calls for Russian President Vladimir Putin to be barred from the November leaders' meeting.
But the Governor of the Bank of England, Mark Carney, and the Chancellor, George Osborne, will miss the meeting, opting instead to be home for the results of the referendum on Scottish independence.
For Joe Hockey, the centrepiece on the meeting will be talks on lifting global growth by a further two percent.
"I'm hoping that we'll be able to indicate at the end of the meeting on Sunday exactly how far we've come in relation to the two per cent goal," he said.
