Dante Exum has scored his first win with the Utah Jazz, but it was his Australian teammate Brock Motum who came up big.
Motum, the 208cm forward from Brisbane hoping to secure an NBA contract, came off the bench for 16 points, six rebounds and two steals in the Jazz's 87-71 win against the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas on Monday.
Motum sank seven of his nine shots, including a three pointer.
Exum, who received rave reviews for his Jazz debut on Saturday in a loss against the Philadelphia 76ers, did pull off a couple of impressive plays, but took a backseat to Motum and former Duke University star Rodney Hood, who exploded with 29 points, including seven three pointers.
"I took a bit of a step back," 19-year-old Exum, who had six points, three assists and three turnovers, said.
"I'll try and regroup for the next game."
Motum, who played for Bologna in Italy, and Exum had plenty to celebrate before the game with Boomers coach Andrej Lemanis naming them in the 17-man Australian training squad for the August-September World Cup in Spain.
The team will be cut to 12 after a camp in Canberra later this month.
The Boomers will also have NBA players Aron Baynes and Matthew Dellavedova, but injury has ruled out Andrew Bogut and Patty Mills.
Power forward Cameron Bairstow, playing for the Chicago Bulls in Las Vegas, and Chris Goulding, trialling with the Dallas Mavericks, also made the 17-man Boomer team.
NBL sharpshooter Goulding had his best game for Dallas in the Summer League, hitting three of five three pointers in an 88-57 thrashing of the Toronto Raptors.
Bairstow has been a force on the boards for the Bulls, grabbing six rebounds with six points in a 103-76 win against the Denver Nuggets on Sunday.
