Australia's Dante Exum and Matthew Dellavedova will have their first taste of playing in the NBA's All-Star weekend when they spearhead a world team against a squad of America's best young players.
The World versus US Rising Stars Challenge game will be played at Brooklyn's Barclays Center on Friday (Saturday 1pm AEDT).
It pits the top first and second-year NBA players against each other, with the teams separated into US and non-US born.
A hand injury to New Zealand's Oklahoma City Thunder centre Steven Adams cost the World team a third Australasian member.
"I've watched a lot of the All-Star games and the rookie games and I've tried to get here so it's a dream come true," the Utah Jazz's Melbourne-born Exum told NBA TV.
Cleveland Cavalier Dellavedova had planned to catch up with friends in California over the All-Star break, but an injury to Canadian-born Boston Celtic Kelly Olynyk resulted in the Victorian getting a late invitation.
Joining the Australians in the World team are Andrew Wiggins, the Canadian-born forward and number one draft pick, and Exum's French-born Jazz centre Rudy Gobert.
Another Jazz teammate, guard Trey Burke, leads the US team.
The All-Star weekend also includes a skills challenge, three-point contest and slam dunk competition on Saturday (Sunday AEDT) and the NBA All-Star game on Sunday (Monday AEDT)
