Mourners will mark the achievements of Australian racing legend Sir Jack Brabham at a Queensland state funeral on the Gold Coast today.
The three time Formula One world champion died aged 88 last month.
Known as “Black Jack”, the former Royal Australian Air Force mechanic won the Australian speedway title in 1948.
A decade later he was racing in Britain for the Cooper Team and won the 1959 and 1960 Formula One championships.
His greatest triumph was winning the 1966 Formula One championship in a car he designed with long time collaborate Ron Tauranac.
It is a feat considered unlikely to be repeated by a driver again.
He was persuaded by his first wife Betty to retire from racing in 1970 but kept close ties with motor racing.
Brabham is survived by his second wife, Lady Margaret, and three sons from his first marriage.
In a lasting tribute, Australia’s Formula 1 Grand Prix winner’s trophy has been renamed in his honour.
