Family and friends mourn some of the youngest victims of MH17

A Perth mother who lost her three children and father in the MH17 tragedy has recalled how she cried out and reached her arms into the sky when she was told their flight had been shot down.

The four family members were among the 298 people who died when Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 was downed over eastern Ukraine last month.

Rin Norris and her husband Anthony Maslin addressed friends and family at a memorial service at Scotch College where their eldest son Mo had attended.

He was the fourth generation of the Norris family to attend the private school in Perth’s western suburbs.

The children’s parents told the mourners about their “effortlessly cool” son Mo who had an “old soul” and made friends with children and adults alike.

Their youngest boy Otis with a free spirit and an inquisitive nature saw the beauty in the most mundane things.

And the middle child Evie who was the glue of their family and always the first to hug her father every morning.

Rin Norris’ younger brother Brack spoke about their father Nick who had taken the children home a day earlier from their European holiday to be back in time for school.

He said Nick Norris was a “great man” who squeezed more out of life than most, but always had time for those he loved.
