Rohan Fitzgerald's family are devastated at the death of a "caring and generous" man on the Bali holiday he'd been "hanging out for".
The 28-year-old farmer, of Kyancutta on South Australia's Eyre Peninsula, was found on the bathroom floor at the Bounty Hotel's restaurant on Sunday afternoon, Kuta police say.
There was no sign of violence.
A family spokeswoman said Mr Fitzgerald suffered from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a rare heart condition.
"People who have it can't be weightlifters or marathon runners," she told the Advertiser newspaper in Adelaide.
"But Rohan said it did not affect his life at all. It was picked up a couple of years ago when he had an infection."
She said he'd been looking forward to the break away from the farm.
"We live in rural South Australia where there is not much opportunity for a social life.
"He was just hanging out to go on a holiday with his best mate.
"He was so caring and generous. We have all been left devastated."
Mr Fitzgerald worked on the family's extensive farm, about two hours north of Port Lincoln, and had four siblings, aged between 17 and 26.
The family rejected suggestions he had been partying in the lead up to his death, saying he had a quiet night the previous evening and was just enjoying a couple of drinks at a bar when he collapsed without warning.
Bounty Hotel employee I Made Sugiharta Mahartawan told police that on finding Mr Fitzgerald he immediately called for a stretcher.
Mr Fitzgerald was sent to BIMC Hospital in the hotel's car.
Police say he died in hospital about 30 minutes later.
Sven Remo, general manager of the Bounty Hotel, told reporters CCTV footage showed Mr Fitzgerald spent the afternoon chatting with guests and eating steak before he was found in the bathroom about 4pm.
He said the hotel was shocked and saddened by the death.
"His family has phoned us," he said. "We're shocked by this incident because so far, all has run well.
"Even when he walked to the restaurant, he looked normal."
Mr Remo said Mr Fitzgerald checked in on January 29 and was due to stay until February 10.
The Bounty Hotel draws a mostly young Australian crowd and is famous for its foam parties.
A spokesman for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade confirmed the department was providing consular assistance to "the family of a 28-year-old man from South Australia who died in Bali".
Last month Queensland woman Noelene Bischoff and her daughter Yvana died in Bali after becoming violently ill.
The Queensland coroner is investigating their deaths.
